So I would like many people to know the Japanese culture.

こんちは！てんむすです。ぼくは日本人で、自分の国である日本が大好きです。
だから、日本に住む人以外に日本のことを知ってもらいたいです。

This time, I’m gonna explain about the oddness of the Japanese military.
I omit the detail and explain as easy way.
Even actually many Japanese don’t know this story.
今回は、日本の自衛隊について話します。
細かい話は省き、かんたんに説明します。
日本人も実際に、この話をしらない人が多いです。
Japanese military is not “military”. （日本の軍隊は軍隊ではない）
Japan actually has military.
but we Japanese officially recognize the military is not “military”.
Instead, we call it “Japanese self-defense Forces” (hereinafter, referred to as “JSDF”), because oddly the Japanese constitution ban to have the military.
Even though Japan is a advanced nation (GDP is 3rd in the world!), the constitution forbidden to have our own military.
日本は実際に軍隊を持っています。
しかし、私たち日本は公式には軍隊と言っていません。
その代わり、自衛隊と読んでいます。それは、不思議にも日本の憲法が軍隊を持つことを禁止しているためです。
日本は先進国ですが（GDPだと世界第３位！）、それにもかかわらず憲法が軍隊を持つことを禁止しています。
The background to creation of the JSDF（自衛隊ができた背景）
There are really complicated background and long story for the creation of the JSDF.
自衛隊ができるまでには、とても複雑な背景があります。
75 years ago, in the world war 2, Japan was defeted by the United nations.
As a result, Japan got disarmed and was colonized by them.
７５年前、第二次世界大戦のとき、日本は連合国に負けました。
連合国によって、日本軍は解体され、占領され統治されるようになった。
At that time the United nations contained US, UK, France, China and Soviet union and more.
But actually the United nations which colonized Japan is only the US.
So I quote the word US instead United nations the following part.
そのころ連合国は、アメリカ、イギリス、フランス、中国（中華民国：今の台湾）、ソビエト連邦と他の国によって構成されていました。
しかし、実際には日本を統治した連合国は、アメリカでした。
なので、以降は連合国というのは、アメリカと書きます。
After the colonization , at first the US decided that they changed Japan as the country which cannot make a war ever after.
The US did 3 tings to Japan アメリカが日本にした３つのこと
占領のあと、まずアメリカは日本を、未来において戦争のできない国に変えようとした。
They did mainly 3 way to make it come true.
アメリカは、日本を変えるために３つの施策を行った。
1st remaking Constitution（１つめ 憲法を作り変える）
Actually Japanese constitution was made by US at that time and it has never changed since then. (It is weird also though…)
The constitution has an article that Japan gives up to the right of War and don’t have army, air force ,navy and any others military for ever.
Actually, it is well known among whole Japanese people as article 9. It has been contraversial for long time.
日本の憲法は実際にアメリカによって作られたし、その後も今に至るまで一切替わっていない。（それもおかしな話だけど）
日本国憲法の条文に、戦争をすることと、陸海空その他の戦力を持たない、とう条文がある。
実際に、その文言は日本人にとって、憲法９条という呼び方で誰しも知っているし、ずっと議論の多い話題だ。
2nd changing Japanese mind and culture（２つめ 日本人の意識と文化を変えた）
US used the old media such as newspapers and radio and also school education to instill guilt about the war to the Japanese people.
Like
Japanese nation caused the trouble for the world and many many people.
Japanese nation was villain and totally evil of the world.
アメリカは、新聞やラジオ等のメディア、また学校教育を使って、戦争責任の意識を日本人に植え付けた。
日本は世界に、世界中の人に迷惑をかけた。
日本は世界の的だった、絶対的な悪だった。
This recognition is still continuing presently, and the strength of recognition tend to be more common as their generations become older.
その認識は、戦後からまだ続いていて、年齢が高齢なほどその傾向が強い。
3rd breaking the Japanese relision.（３つめ 宗教を破壊した）
The US also broke the Japanese religion “Shintoism” with the Emperor at the top because the US thought it also was related the reason to cause the war.
Actually , there are the other reasons also but it is a one of the strong reason that our Japanese are said as “not religious people”.
アメリカは、神道が戦争を起こした一つの理由と考えたため、日本の宗教である、天皇を頂点とする神道を破壊した。
実際のところ、それ以外の理由もあるけれど、日本人が無宗教と言われるのは、これに一つの大きな原因である。
The situation was changed 状況が変わった
The situation was changed because of Korean war and the cold war その後、朝鮮戦争と、冷戦によって状況が変わる。
After several years past, The Korean war was started in the Korean peninsula.
その数年後、朝鮮半島で、挑戦戦争が始まる。
At that time, the communist organizations in Japan expand their influence because of the instilling guilt policy done by the US explained earlier.
On the other hand, The US had to move their whole military which stayed in Japan to Korean peninsula, because they needed to focus on the Korean war.
So they started to thought the US needed to prepare against the risk of a civil war in Japan which may be caused by communist organization and they had Japanese government build a special police which actually had a military capability against the civil war.
そのころアメリカが行った、日本人に戦争責任を植え付ける施策によって、日本国内に共産勢力が影響力を強める。
一方で、アメリカは、朝鮮戦争に力を注ぐため、日本に駐留していたアメリカ軍を全て朝鮮半島に移さなければならなくなった。
その結果、アメリカは共産勢力による引き起こされる日本の内乱のリスクに備える必要が出てきて、アメリカは日本に、内乱に対応できる軍事力を持つ、特別な警察を作らせた。
After several years past again, the cold war started.
Then the US thought they didn’t want Japan to join Eastern block as communist countries.
The reason of that background, they started to need protect Japan against invasion causing communist countries ,and they made Japanese government have military.
So finally Japanese government reconstruct the special police as military forces.
その数年後、冷戦が始まる。
そしてアメリカは、日本に共産主義勢力の側について欲しくなかった。
そのため、日本を共産主義国から防衛する必要ができ、日本を再軍備する必要ができ、日本政府に軍隊を持つように働きかけた。
日本政府はついに、先ほど触れた戦闘力をもった特殊な警察を、軍隊に作り変えた。
But as I mentioned earlier, Japanese constitution ban to have our own military so Japanese government defined that the military is not military.
So since then Japanese military has been named “Japanese self-defence forces”.
しかし憲法で軍隊を持つことが禁止されていたため、日本は自衛隊と名付けた。
Because of that culture influenced by the US and our mind which made by the US policy after the world war 2, so-called “JSDF” has been still controversial that it has been unconstitutional as the Japanese public opinion.
So many Japanese had bad image against JSDF until recently.
アメリカの施策によって作られた、戦後の日本人の戦争責任意識のため、日本人にとって自衛隊は違憲だとの議論が世論としてあった。
その近まで、多くの日本人は自衛隊に対していいイメージを持っていなかった。
But since 1980’s , major disasters have happened several times year by year and then JSDF did to rescue many many people and to provide reconstruction assistance after disaster.
And we have had many chance to watch the efforts by JSDF through TV and news paper.
しかし、８０年以降で、年々大きな災害がたびたび日本で起こるようになり、そこでの救助活動や復興支援活動などで、
自衛隊の活動が目立つようになる。
そして、われわれ国民はその様子をテレビや新聞などで見る機会が沢山あった。
So Japanese people’s impression against JSDF is continuously changed better day by day.
Japanese government also officially announces the understanding that JSDF is not unconstitutional.
それから、徐々に国民の自衛隊に対するイメージは良くなってきている。
政府も、自衛隊は違憲ではないという、認識を公に発表した。
That story is the background of the complication related Japanese military.
これが複雑な日本の軍隊に関する背景。
